Hope everyone is enjoying their long holiday weekend!

It’s raining here in Madison today, but yesterday was a perfect 75 degrees with just the right amount of sun and breeze. I stopped by the market before heading up north to our cabin to pick up a couple things for the week. Here’s a sampling of this week’s loot:

Farmer's Market & CSA Series {Week 3} | Things I Made Today

From the top left:

  • A big head of bok choy that will be getting mixed in with these pork meatballs and drowned in a red curry coconut sauce.
  • Beautiful little crimini mushrooms that I intend to throw onto a pizza with some prosciutto, red onions, and gorgonzola cheese. If you need some other ideas for mushroom dishes, you can look through this archive.
  • The new green of the week: sorrel, which has a tangy, slightly acidic taste and is commonly used in creamy sauces, soups, or omelets. It also pairs nicely with seafood, so I’m thinking about throwing it into a sauce and serving it over this farm fresh trout.
  • Last but not least, some cherry tomatoes. It’s still a little early in the season for tomatoes in Wisconsin, but these hot house ones just looked too good. I’ll be throwing these into a salad with mangoes, cucumbers, spinach, and avocado to really make it taste like summer.

What are your menu plans for this four day work week?
