Pumpkins are here which means it’s time to talk about my irrational hatred of Halloween.

Halloween for children, I’ll allow it, but Halloween for adults is a thing I cannot get behind. Perhaps I’m permanently scarred for life from bartending in college on Halloween nights in Madison, Wisconsin—the god damn capital of Halloween stupidity. If I had it my way I’d hide in the basement on Halloween with the lights off in the entire house.

I am told that people look down upon this behavior. So in the meantime, I’ll protest by using my pumpkins for pie, ice cream, scones, or other delicious treats. There will be no carved pumpkins anywhere that I can see them.

This week, I’m heading out to California for work, and leaving this pumpkin and these veggies behind. But a girl can dream about dinner, right? If so, here’s what I’m thinking about:

Fennel

Pumpkin

Broccoli

Green Tomatoes

Tomatoes

Garlic

Diakon

Red Kuri Squash

Red Potatoes

Carrots

Collard Greens

Hahaha, I know I’m late to the party here, but if you think Madison is the capital of Halloween stupidness, you should try Tucson, Arizona!! A college town where it’s warm on Halloween means soooo much drinking, and lingerie = costume. I, too, hate Halloween. :)
