A couple weeks back we hit our holy-crap-we’re-having-a-child moment.

We frantically moved everything out of the office and converted it into a nursery, and went on a Craigslist hunt for required baby things. In the meantime, all that furniture and stuff that used to be in our office got doubled up in what used to be the single-use guest bedroom.

It’s funny, when we first moved into the house, having a dedicated office was one of the things I was most thankful for, considering I worked from home. After a year of working in the same space, moving the office into the new room almost felt like a refresh. Plus the bright yellow walls and sunshine we get in this room make for pleasant mornings.

In order to accommodate the dual purpose, we flipped the bed to go horizontally across the room. There is still plenty of space to walk around it, so it doesn’t feel crowded, but I think long term we’ll likely get something that can fold up and make this space feel a little bigger.

In the process of rearranging all the upstairs furniture, we also finally got around to reupholstering Jason’s office chair, which we did the exact same way we did mine. The fabric for his chair is also by Echino, purchased from the lovely Sewcial Lounge.

Jason and I rarely are in the office at the same time, but it’s kind of nice to be right next to each other when we are. And even when we’re not, I can enjoy the serious difference in the words of wisdom we choose to keep in front of us.

As far as this room goes, I think we’ll leave it be for a while. But here’s what’s still on the list:

  • Replace bed with fold out couch or futon.
  • Replace ugly light fixture (conveniently not pictured, with something softer and less stark).

Plus, ya know, there’s a bed there in case you feel like laying down on the job. ;) Love it, love those chairs so much.

Not that I’ve ever taken a nap in the office…of course not :). Thanks, Jaimie!
