We had ourselves a nice, quiet weekend.

Which is exciting for us because the last six we’ve been out of town or have had visitors in town. Not that we’re complaining, it’s been great, but it’s nice to have a whole Saturday and Sunday to ourselves with nothing to do. And by nothing to do I mean we went to two different farmer’s markets (Madison friends, did you guys know a new market opened today on Monroe St?), gardened, garage sale shopped, and generally enjoyed the sunshine.

As for our weekly loot, here’s what we got:

Farmer's Market & CSA Series {Week 4} | Things I Made Today

We are shopping small this week because the CSA starts on Wednesday, and I know we’ll be loaded. But here’s what we’re planning to make this week:

  • Heirloom tomatoes are getting sliced on top of this mascarpone tart which has the most embarrassing photos and commentary of all time. Ugh, 2013 me, what were you thinking? If you’re not into turning the oven on, you could also go for this tomato and watermelon salad or this tomato and burrata salad.
  • For these purple potatoes, how about combining them with some shallots, radishes, and chives, then tossing them with some sort of vinaigrette?
  • A little baby swiss chard hit the market this week. I’d like to mix these in with some anchovies, garlic, and walnuts for a nice side dish.
  • Persian cucumbers, if these survive my attempts to just eat them as is, I’ll likely mix them with some sesame oil, vinegar, and scallions.
  • And let’s not kid ourselves. Snap peas are for snacking on every time you pass through the kitchen.

What are you guys cooking up this week?
