it is hard to actually comprehend that that thing that we’ve been planning for the last year is actually over.

i couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out, from the rehearsal dinner on friday to the brunch on sunday, everything went exactly as planned. it was quite an experience to have my entire family, some of whom haven’t seen each other in 20 years, be in the same room at the same time. not to mention the combining with jason’s family. and then all our friends. it’s both overwhelming and humbling at the same time.

now that it’s all over, i wanted to share some of the behind-the-scenes of how our wedding came together, starting with the invites, programs, and thank yous. i can by no means claim that this is something that i made myself, as my sister jenny did all the work. jenny is a graphic designer and owner of ALSO and a very useful person to have in the family when it comes to these kinds of things. if you are not related to her, she is available for hire.

let’s start with the invitations. we knew we wanted to do something with maps as our “theme.” i say this in quotes because i think theme is too strong of a word, but it was definitely an element that was woven in to several parts of the decor. jenny found an amazing old map of madison, the city we got married in, and edited to be  a two-toned (i’m very much oversimplifying the process, so please forgive me sister). we got the envelopes and the map portion of the invitation digitally printed and then all the words were letter pressed after the fact by 622 press.

we didn’t do any additional inserts for the invitations – everything else was on our website. more on that to come later this week.

the blue map continued onto the programs and thank you cards as well. the program was a tri-fold that jenny printed at home. this is also one of the places we listed our wedding party app, which is how we got everyone to share photos throughout the night. we have some great shots of our guests on here since everyone was a photographer. very happy to have those.

and last but not least is our thank you cards. these were printed by modern postcard. look for these in the mail in the next couple of weeks, we are overwhelmed with the amount of amazing presents we’ve gotten!

on sunday, we had some close friends and family over for brunch at our house. it was very satisfying to finally cross off the to-do that has been on there for the last year. we did, however, have another one added for us. we’ll get working on it. but first the croissants.
